The opportunity

CBC/Radio-Canada’s Media Presentation team oversees and presents 2.5 million hours of content stemming from 32 different French and English video and 130 audio channels to all platforms annually. Reporting to the Senior Director of Media Presentation, we have an opening for a newly-created role, a Senior Web Presentation Manager. This is an opportunity for someone who is equally passionate about contributing to a new digital presentation strategy, working with senior stakeholders and leading a media presentation team.  A chance to step into the Senior Management team at CBC/Radio-Canada and play a pivotal role in how Canadians access digital content whenever and wherever they want.

Who you are and where are you now?

You are currently, or you have experience as a Manager overseeing a digital content and presentation team at a large organization. Your corporate experience is balanced with hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up or scaling environment. You want to join Canada’s most respected broadcaster as we race into the live-streaming and VOD world. How you will make a difference, you will:
  • Build strong relationships and represent the department with our primary stakeholders which include Digital Operations and Digital Strategy leadership and programming.
  • Contribute to and execute on the department strategy developed with the Senior Director.
  • Oversee the department’s operations including daily and monthly reporting, technical performance measurement, communication of technical discrepancies and implementation of processes and workflows.
  • Ensure the continuous improvement and evolution of the department through research, proofs- of-concept, risk assessment, business cases and budget proposals.
  • Lead the work of a team of 12 digital presentation staff in Toronto and Montreal providing mentorship, direction, access to professional development as well as management of headcount.
  • Influence live-stream and video-on-demand activities and operations for CBC and Radio-Canada.
  • Implement projects such as our automated robot-based monitoring tool that will be used to ensure the content and user experience is intact.

Job Requirements

  • The education. You have a post-secondary degree in a related field. Bilingualism in French and English and general broadcast knowledge is an asset.
  • The passion. You have a passion for digital content, presentation and technology. Digital media is your happy place. You thrive in this industry. Social media is part of your fabric.
  • The expertise. You have 3+ years developing technologies, formats and platforms for digital content. You have a deep understanding of the trends in the consumption and presentation of digital content.
  • The corporate exposure. You can navigate and push the boundaries of a national organization. You understand how to work within the processes and use the significant budget as well as existing resources, tools and personnel to your advantage. You can adapt your approach to work through the layers of corporate culture effectively.
  • The knowledge. You are a strategic thinker and highly aware of the importance of scalability. You have the patience to consider all options before jumping into a decision. You are motivated by building robust, reliable processes and solutions that are replicable. You are very familiar with industry best practices.
  • The leadership skills. You have 3+ years managing people, leading teams and advising Senior Management.
  • The relationship building finesse. You can nurture strong two-way relationships with peers, partners, clients, staff, senior managers and external technological vendors.
  • The communication skills. You are skilled at presenting ideas and reports to senior stakeholders. You know how to listen and you understand perspectives.
  • The collaborative approach. You thrive in a team-focused environment. You can provide guidance and direction for teams and take a hands-on role wherever needed.
  • The flexibility. You are able and willing to work outside of regular working hours given the continuous operation of the department and area. You can travel between Montreal and Toronto on a bi-weekly basis for up to three days at a stretch.
